8mm FILM PROJECTORS
SUPER-8 FILM PROJECTORS
REFURBISHED W/ 30 day WARRANTY!

8mm & Super-8 Film movie Projectors that have been refurbished / repaired with a warranty. Super & Regular 8mm Movie / Reel to Reel Film / motion-picture Projectors (Sometimes referred to as 'Reel to Reel Film' projectors). Empty Take-up Reels for sale. Also Super 8mm film hub adaptors with take-up reels. Restored, refurbished, repaired, second-hand 8mm film Projectors occasionally by B&H / Bell & Howell, Chinon, Elmo, GAF, Keystone, Kodak, Revere, Sankyo, Sekonic, Vivitar, Wards and others. Also 8mm film cameras by Bauer S 715 XL. Film projectors for copying / converting / dubbing film to video DVD or VHS.

We fully test each projector offered for sale. We use film that is in good shape, with sprocket holes that are not worn. Each projector is checked for belt / drive condition, frame sync, bulb / lamp(s) condition, switching condition, focus, Sound quality (where applicable), AC safety, excess transport noise and overall function. Each 8mm film projector is cleaned and lubed where necessary. Our Movie projectors should be "ready to go" when you receive on, however film projectors are complicated machines and film can be very fragile, especially older film (and most of it is "old"). Always check the sprocket holes in your films for quality. Worn, deformed, torn, stretched sprocket holes and warped film will cause problems when playing back which typically manifests itself in shutter glitches, 'chatter' and other noise. The problems may only last a frame or can last seconds or indefinitely if the film is in really bad shape. (Probably 70-80% of our test films have sprocket hole issues.) Also double check the loading and always go slow and load carefully, as that is when most problems happen. Along with that point, films should be used with 'leaders' installed. They will load better / easier and there's less risk of film being damaged, as most film damage happens during the loading process.
While our projectors are warranted for their basic function, we cannot guarantee that you will always get glitch free viewing and that films will not break and be "eaten", especially during the loading process. It doesn't happen often, in fact rarely, but we all remember watching school films and the teacher having to stop and splice, rewind or further adjust the film and projector to continue.

Regular-Standard 8mm / SUPER-8mm Take-up Reels with Regular-8 Hub adaptors
for sale

We just found a source for some German made Plastic, Super-8mm take-up reels with Regular-8mm hub adaptors. These reels will fit any 8mm projector as they can be used without the hub adaptor for Super 8 film projectors and with the hub adaptor for Regular-Standard 8mm film projectors. The reels are new and will have no warping like about 50% of the older, vintage reels still in existence. They also feature "film grabbing" so if your projector is 100% auto-load, the reels will load themselves. Each reel has a capacity of 400' and comes with a case and an adaptor.

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely and extensively gone through the transport mechanicals and electrics of this projector.

ü Projector was disassembled internally for restoration including the drive motor for re-lubing.

ü Drive Motor completely disassembled, had it's commutator gaps cleaned, and plates burnished, bushings cleaned and re-lubed

ü Supply and 'Take-Up' spindle mechanisms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed.

ü Main drive belt, #231 replaced with new.

ü 'Cracked' lamp holder / socket replaced with original from another Wards 877 we had as a donor

ü 'Missing' lens replaced with original from another Wards 877 we had as a donor which was then completely disassembled (all elements removed) and cleaned all element surfaces (NOT an easy task)

ü We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments. There are no rubber drive tires / wheels to crack, glaze or deteriorate, so no need to worry about one failing down the road.

ü Utilizes 'worm / pinion gears' to drive reel spindles (much more durable and trouble-free than rubber). These were cleaned of old, hardened lube and re-lubed

ü Utilizes 'spring belts' to drive reel spindles (also much more durable and trouble-free than rubber). These were also removed and soaked in solvent.

ü Film gate cleaned as well as entire film track.

ü Speed control filament windings in great shape and moves smoothly with no worn / dead spots.

ü We then checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and extensively tested with both Super 8 and Regular 8mm film. Only issue is a minor one in that the latch / catch is missing so when the unit is folded for storage, it doesn't lock shut.
Unit loads, runs both forward and reverse very smoothly with great precision. No clunky-ness. The variable speed on this machine has about the most 'range' that we have ever seen. I will go down to a very slow ~ 10fps and up to very fast ~ 30fps with a lot of 'travel' to allow for more accurate adjustments when doing film to video transfers.

Freshly refurbished, Wards 877 Regular / Super-8mm film / cine projector with variable speed control built-in. Perfectly smooth and very quiet running. Features Auto-Loading of film, is easy to use and that works well. Front spindle will accept Regular or Super-8 reels.
Wards 877 / Keystone 85
Features:

- Dual-8 meaning; Regular and Super 8mm silent film formats
- Variable Speed capability for "flicker-free" film to video transfers
- F/ 20-32mm Zoom Lens rated f / 1:1.5, Japan Made!
- 8V / 50 Watt projection lamp
- Reverse Projection
- Pause / Still Projection function
- Forward or Reverse operation with or without the lamp
- Automatic film loading and take-up reel threading
- Frame center adjust (Framer Knob)
- Up to 400 foot reel capacity (large reels limit clearance for fingers when loading)
- Quiet and very precision built internally
- Internal 'Pinion' gear drive
- 'Spring' Belt hub drives
- Adjustable front foot

Will play forwards or backward with or without the lamp. Again, has infinitely variable film projection speed control to enable "flicker-free" film to video transfers. Utilizes model KP-GT / CXL / CXR 8 volt, 50 watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for 2" of height angle adjustment.
This unit is ready to use. All metal construction. Again, the only issue is the missing case latch / catch (we've had three of these over the past couple decades, and ALL of them have had the 'latch / catch' broken / missing) so when you pick it up to move by the top handle, you need to cradle it (otherwise it hinges open) (a Velcro strap or similar will work to keep it closed). Looks decent with a few 'battle scars', nicks and chips here and there, but nothing too distracting and works well. Detachable AC cord is included. As it features 'Variable Speed', it would make a great tool for anyone wanting to do their own film to video transfers as it can provide flicker-free images in both Regular 8mm and Super-8mm formats.
Tech note: "
Lens is very sharp all the way to the edges following it's service"
Best used with film that have good leaders installed (would say that about all projectors as well).
Comes with take-up reel and we just ordered and received a NEW
projection lamp (already installed). Also includes our standard 30 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Includes a copy of the owners / users manual. Measures 12.5" long x 12.5" deep x 11.5" tall (when un-folded) and weighs 20 lbs unpacked. Film in photos not included.

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals of this projector.

ü 'Fast Wind' hub tires reconditioned (these tires can be even just a little bit 'glazed' and the projector will not function correctly).

ü New 'drive wheel' rubber tires installed (these tires (which appear to be made of the same material a 'surgical tubing' originally') are ALWAYS hardened, sometimes to the point of disintegrating, and must be replaced with better rubber on any restoration / service).

ü Motor dismounted and re-lubed

ü 3 Belts replaced (#032, #034 & #230) and the balance inspected / reconditioned for trouble-free service.

ü Both hub mechanisms checked for proper function. All 'idler pulleys and wheels', cleaned and re-lubed.

ü Main drive 'rubber / fabric' belt appears NEW.

ü Lens completely disassembled, all elements cleaned and correctly re-assembled (not a particularly easy task btw)

ü Lens track mechanism cleaned and re-lubed with silicone gel lube (note, by design, the 'focus' knob has what seems like 'excessive' play, but that's to allow motion and removal of lens.)

ü 'Shuttle' mechanism and associated cam cleaned and re-lubed, as well as the eccentric framer mechanism.

ü Film gate cleaned as well as film track.

ü Take-Up reel clutch tension adjusted to not allow film to 'spill' during PB, but to allow Re-Wind, you'll want to have your left hand ready as a 'reel brake' if you stop rewinding 'mid-stream'.

ü Main transport, 'Transmission' critical adjustments made (many issues with the transport of a GAF 8mm projector can be traced to an 'out of adjustment' transmission, and 'minute' amounts make the difference in a projector running errantly, or running correctly).

ü Following mechanical work, entire unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out.

ü Then checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and extensively tested with both Super 8 and Regular 8mm film.

Freshly refurbished / fully serviced, GAF 2688Z, Dual 8mm Film / movie / cine projector. Following about 4.5 hours of tech time, it's now Perfectly smooth and very quiet running. Features Auto-Loading of film, is easy to use and that works well. Front spindle will accept Regular or Super-8 reels.

GAF 2688Z Features:

- Regular and Super 8mm silent film formats
- Zoom Lens f1.4 / 20-32mm ('soft focus' frame edges)

- 30V / 80 Watt, "ELE", Quartz Halogen projection lamp
-
'Fast Wind' Forward or Reverse while film STILL IN FILM TRACK! This can be a HUGE time saver if you're doing a lot of films. Allows you to 'rewind' the film if you've gotten partially thru the reel and either need to 'reject' the film or have "seen enough". Without this, in order to 'rewind', most projectors require you to continue PLAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH, then reconnect the film to the front reel in order to rewind. Or if there's a part you want to 'Fast Forward' to, you can do that. Most projectors CAN'T.
- Forward or Reverse operation with or without the lamp (saves unnecessary lamp wear)
- Automatic film loading
- Frame center adjust
- 400 foot reel capacity
- 'Bright Still' Still Frame
- Quiet mechanics (relatively speaking for film projectors)
- Adjustable front foot
- Built-In film Trimmer
- 'Room Light' AC outlet (turns on any accessory lamp when projector is 'off')

Will play forwards or backward with or without the lamp. Utilizes model ELE / ELT 30 Volt / 80 Watt projection lamp
which has great 'economy' for two reasons. Firstly it has an average rated lifespan of 20 hours, vs the typical 4-10 on many other projector lamps. Secondly, it can typically be found for about a 5th of the price of most other projector lamps. If you have a LOT of films to watch / review, over time, combined with the ability on this projector to run WITHOUT the lamp on, this is a BIG DEAL!!!
Front adjustment foot allows for ~2.5" of height angle adjustment.
Again, following the above mentioned service, this unit is ready to put to work. Looks great and works well. Comes with take-up reel
, lid / front cover and TWO EXTRA "ELE" projection lamps / bulbs. Comes with copy of owners / users manual for "Wards 811" (same machine built by GAF). Also includes our standard 30 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Operating instructions inside the front cover / lid. Measures 12.5" long x 7" deep x 11.5" tall (when un-folded) and weighs ~15 lbs unpacked. Film in photos not included.

Notes on 'Reel to Reel' Film Projectors:

Auto-Load: While "Auto-Load" can work successfully, to varying degrees on different film projectors models, it is a feature that has been known to 'eat films'. The overall design went through an evolution over the years, but even the best designs will eat films on occasion. This is usually due to NOT using 'leaders' on your film, poorly trimmed leaders or film, excessive curling of film (usually associated with smaller reel diameters), bent / crumpled leader ends. An excessively "curled" film can be almost impossible to "auto-load". If you have excessive 'curl', it's best to add a section of 'straighter' leader to assist with loading (again, always best to use film leaders). Film eating can also be due to projector maintenance issues and poorly designed transport sprockets.
Also, 'Auto-Load' take-up reels are not a 'fool proof' design either. Some work better than others. It's usually best to have a selection of 'Non-Auto-Load' take-up reels handy in case you have difficulty with one.

Projector Chatter: A well maintained and properly adjusted projector should not "chatter" when projecting GOOD condition film, with clean sprocket holes and properly done splices. However, even the best projectors will chatter when trying to project film with torn, worn, missing and otherwise imperfect sprocket holes and bad splices.

Fast Wind / Rewind Sluggishness: This can typically be due to 3 issues. 1: Hardened / varnished internal lubes (pretty much a given on any electro-mechanical device over 10 years old even if it's described as "New In Box"); 2: Glazed rubber parts, belts and / or tires that no longer have any "grip" characteristics to turn associated wheels / tires / mechanism (also pretty much a given on any electro-mechanical device over 10 years old even if it's described as "New In Box". 3: Weak clutch springs, migrated lubes on clutch surfaces, burnished felt pads on clutch surfaces

Film breakage: Other than "Auto-Load" / Loading issues, most film breakage is caused not from the actual film breaking, but from previous splices breaking. Most any film over 50 feet will contain splices and some that are shorter will as well. If you are going to be running film through a projector, you WILL want need to have a splice block and FRESH splice tape for your format(s) of film handy. You WILL break film. Not much is more frustrating than to have a broken film in the middle of a project with half of it residing on the take-up reel and the other half still on the "feed" reel and no way to repair or make the splice.

Flicker-Free / Flicker-Reduction (applicable when doing 'film to video' transfers, not when simply 'watching' films): Flicker is usually an issue when doing film to video transfers. It manifests itself by an image that varies in degrees of brightness, similar to watching some of the early 1900 silent films. It happens due to the film shutter and the video camera shutter, being "out of sync".
Typically silent film is shot at 18fps (frames per second), and sound film at 24fps. Video operates at 30fps. "fps" refers to how many times per second an image is projected or picked up. Even if both were the same fps, they would not be in sync, without a lot of very sophisticated equipment that is beyond the scope of most users means. There are a number of "work-arounds" to reduce or eliminate flicker. The first, and best is to use a 5-bladed shutter model projector. Some projectors can be retrofitted with a 5-blade shutter or may have come originally with one. These can be relatively expensive. The flicker is eliminated by projecting more images than is necessary for the video camera to pickup, thus there is always a projected image regardless of whether the video camera shutter is open or closed.
The next way is to use a "semi-pro" or professional video camera that has an "infinitely variable" speed shutter. As of this writing, the low end of those cost $2000 and can go up to around $5000 before reaching "pro" status. Flicker can be reduced or eliminated in some cases, by "riding" the camera speed control, while monitoring the video signal on a monitor (the control needs to be infinitely variable. Having 2 or 3 different speed choices is not sufficient).
The easiest and typically least expensive way to reduce or sometimes eliminate flicker is to vary the speed of the projector. Many film projectors came with a "variable speed" (needs to be an "infinitely variable" type and not just a choice between 2 or 3 speeds) control from the factory. If not, some lend themselves to being modified by a qualified technician by having one added. Another possible way to achieve variable speed on a projector that doesn't have one is to control it externally, using a device such as a "vari-AC" (have a qualified technician determine if your projector is a candidate for use with a vari-AC and know it's limitations and methods for safe use. If a variable speed projector is used, again simply "ride" the speed control while monitoring the image on the video monitor, as you would with a variable speed camera. Flicker cannot always be eliminated, but can usually be reduced to an undetectable degree.

Lamps / Bulbs: Due to the intensity required to project a small image from film, through a small hole, only part of each second, some times distances of 40 feet, projection lamps must be very powerful. This power comes at the price of short life. Most projector lamps have life spans of 10-50 hours and are very fragile thus, should be handled carefully. There are some LED substitutions that have recently available for some projectors.

Lens 'Flare': Due to the intensity required to project a small image from film some lens / lamp combinations may have 'Lens Flare' effect which shows up as an excessively bright spot when using a video camera. While this would not have likely been an issue when projecting an image 10-30 feet, onto a screen as projectors were originally designed to do, it may show up when projecting only a few inches.

Noise: Film projectors are very complicated mechanical things, with lots of moving and integrated parts. There will always be a degree of mechanical noise made by any film projector. It will very in degree by model. Some will be relatively quiet and some will seem quite noisy.

Silent / Sound switch: This is more of an issue with 16mm Film projectors, but the "Silent / Sound" / "Speed" mechanical switch should never be manipulated with the projector is not running. To do so in most cases, will require the projector be partially disassembled to re-seat the drive belt. Again, this is usually not a problem with 8mm units or units that make the change electronically.

Sound quality: "Consumer" film in either 8 or 16mm formats had varying degrees of sound quality. There were many factors that could and can effect sound quality. One is the accuracy of the camera that shot the film originally. If it's speed was not correct or constant, that sound will be imprinted on the film and will play back no better. Sound can vary from usable to laughable in quality, so don't expect Hi-Fi quality by any stretch of the imagination.

Still Function: In order to do "Still" image projection the film must stop. In doing this, most projectors will engage a lamp filter to reduce the amount of light, thus heat hitting a single frame of film. Also, since projection principle incorporates rotating "blades" that alternatively block light, there is no guarantee that when you stop forward motion, you will be on a blade opening, thus light may be partially or completely blocked. This will result in a partial or no image. It sometimes takes 2 to a dozen tries to get the "sync" correct, so you see a complete image. Further since there is a filter or light block used in "still" mode, the brightness of the image will be reduced. Note; due to the tremendous amount of heat produced by most projection lamps, a projector should not be left in "still" mode for more than a few seconds. Longer may result in warped, melted or severed film and a mess to clean up in side the projector film gate.

Zoom Lens: Zoom actuation will vary on different projector models. Some lenses actually have to be physically pulled or pushed to zoom.

Foot note: Film projectors are very complicated, electro-mechanical devices. There are many sub-assemblies and systems within each, and all must be working well together for the unit to function with any accuracy and dependability and not "eat", damage or destroy your precious films and movies. The moving parts always rely on lubricants to function properly and there are commonly a rubber parts / components as well. Most projectors you see available today, were originally sold from the 1950's through the early 1980's. Thus at best, a projector is probably at least 25 years old. Most are 30-50 years old. Interesting things happen to 30+ year old lubricants and rubber parts. Lubricants actually coagulate ('varnish up' and act more like 'glue') and will cause "close tolerance" parts to seize or freeze up rendering them immobile. Rubber parts can become brittle and cracked, only to break when the unit is started up. The rubber can also revert back towards it's natural state and become a gooey tar depending on the vulcanization process it went thru during it's manufacture. Virtually every used projector out there will need and require 4-18 hours of technician time to be brought to a "usable" state. Simply "turning one on and getting some things to spin with no smoke coming out" is not a revealing test, nor a basis for making a decision to purchase. Our typical customer has previously purchased 3-5 units from individual sellers (typically from an online auction site), who all stated such things as, "we turned the unit on and it works fine", or "we ran a reel of film through it and it worked great", or "never used, still in box" (those are usually the worst condition and the most difficult to breath life back into), or my personal favorite, "no way to test, but projector looks like it should run great!" Needless to say, none of those statements typically held true. It's not that people are trying to "rip anyone off" (I'm a believer that YOU are generally the person that allows yourself to get "ripped off"), it's just that most non-professional sellers of film projectors, stereo gear, guitars, microphones, keyboards or any other technically minded items should find other things to try and sell, such as old doilies and used baby booties. Heck, if I had an electron-microscope, a race horse, or an F-15 fighter jet, to sell, I would be the last person you would want to talk to about their "real" condition. All I would be able to say is, "it looks like an F-15, doesn't have any rust, and the tires are holding air. It must be ready to fly, right...!???"

8mm FILM CAMERA
FOR PARTS / RESTORE / REPAIR
Circa 1978-82

for sale
Condition unknown, but plan on it needing repair. We don't have the correct batteries or power supply to try it. We tried some standard AA batteries, but they didn't fit very well and the battery compartment has a worn catch so we gave up on it. Not really our "bag" anyway.

Features:
- Lens: Angenieux Macro 1,4 / 6 - 90 mm
- Auto / Manual Zoom with 2 Speeds
- Split Image Focusing
- Macro focusing
- Manual / Auto Exposure
- Frame rates: 9, 18, 24, 40 + single frame
- Shutter degree: 200
- Backlight Control
- Fades
- Lap dissolve
- Interval timer with 1/4-60 second intervals
- Remote control socket
- Flash contact
- Auto / Manual Recording Level Control
- 6 X 1.5V batteries + No separate battery for light meter

We have read on the web that this was the top model of Bauer cameras. Does have the telescopic / rotating shoulder rest built-in. While the battery compartment door needs a new catch, there is no corrosion inside. Film cassette compartment clean as well. Not dents or physical damage that we can see.

As-Is
$125.

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely gone through the mechanicals of this projector.

ü Main rubber belt (#233) replaced for trouble-free service.

ü 'Chain' belt from motor drive to transmission gears and was cleaned of old grease.

ü Reel hubs driven by 'spring belt' which was also cleaned.

ü Both hub mechanisms checked for proper function. All 'internal gears', cleaned of old, hardened grease and re-lubed.

ü Lens track mechanism cleaned and re-lubed with silicone gel lube

ü Film gate cleaned as well as film track (although this is part of normal maintenance on ANY projector)

ü Following mechanical work, entire unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out.

ü Additionally, the 'spring' belts (one main reel and one 'front / supply' reel) were cleaned of old lubes and each shortened about 1/2" as they had 'stretched' and would not transfer enough torque thru the clutches to fully Fast wind in either direction. Now it will FF through a full 400' reel (the big one) generally without any 'help' from your fingers. When rewinding, it may still require a bit of 'help' for the last few feet / winds to get all the way through.

ü Working CXR/CLX/KP-GT 8V / 50W projector lamp installed

ü Then checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and extensively tested with both Super 8 and Regular 8mm film in all modes; Forward Play, Reverse Play and fast wind in both directions with both formats of film as well as testing 'Framer' and 'Loop Former' functions.

Very intelligently designed, Keystone Zoom 2500 Regular / Super-8mm film / cine projector with variable speed control built-in. Perfectly smooth and very quiet running. Features Auto-Loading of film, is easy to use and works well. There's ONLY one rubber belt (from the motor to the shutter). The other belts are chain (motor thru transmission gears) and spring (to drive the hubs). Only remaining issue is the above mentioned Rewind of the last few feet of film needing a bit of 'help'.

Keystone Zoom 2500 Features:

- Regular and Super 8mm silent film formats
- Variable Speed, DC motor, capability for "flicker-free" film to video transfers (wide speed range)
- 20-32mm "Keytar" Zoom Lens rated f / 1.5
- 8V / 50 Watt projection lamp
- Reverse and Still Projection
- Forward or Reverse operation with or without the lamp (saves on lamp life / $$$)
- Automatic film loading and take-up reel threading
 - Frame center adjust
- Touch loop former to stop film chatter (press ALL the way down for best results)
- 400 foot reel capacity
- Super quiet and very precision built (which is typical of most 'Japanese' built projectors we've worked on)

Will play forwards or backward with or without the lamp. Has frame-adjust knob for fine tuning frame size. Has infinitely variable film projection speed control to enable "flicker-free" film to video transfers. Utilizes model CXR/CLX/KP-GT 8 volt, 50 watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for 2" of height angle adjustment. Very well built machine. As stated above have completely serviced and checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and tested with both Super 8 and Regular 8mm film. (Tech note's on it's 'work sheet', "internally 'LIKE NEW', except for old grease". Looks NEW and works great! This unit is ready to go. Uses detachable AC cord that is included. This projector does not appear to have been used much if at all. It would make a great tool for anyone involved in film to video transfer business as it can provide flicker-free images in both Regular 8mm and Super-8mm formats. Includes an e-copy / pdf download of a 'Chinon 'aka' model' owners / users manual that is applicable. Comes with Plastic take-up reel, 'Super-8' hub adapter and CLX/CXR projection lamp already installed. Also includes our standard 30 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 12" long x 6.5" deep x 8" tall (with film arms folded) and weighs 7 lbs unpacked. Film in photos not included.

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals of this projector.

ü 'Fast Wind' tires reconditioned (these tires can be even just a little bit 'glazed' and the projector will not function correctly).

ü New 'hub 'drive wheel / back-tension' rubber tires installed (these tires (which appear to be made of the same material a 'surgical tubing' originally') are ALWAYS hardened, sometimes to the point of disintegrating, and must be replaced with better rubber on any restoration / service of this style of GAF projector).

ü Motor dismounted and re-lubed

ü 6 Belts replaced. The main, 'motor to transmission' Cloth & Rubber belt (replaced with exact OEM and expensive belt),  & #032, #034 & #220 belts replaced for trouble-free service.

ü Both hub mechanisms checked for proper function. All 'idler pulleys and wheels', cleaned and re-lubed.

ü Scuffed the surface of both hub FF & REW wheels the chemically 'etched' with 'Re-Nue' solvent for better traction.

ü Lens completely disassembled, all elements cleaned and correctly re-assembled (not a particularly easy task btw)

ü Lens track mechanism cleaned and re-lubed with silicone gel lube

ü 'Shuttle' mechanism and associated cam cleaned and re-lubed, as well as the eccentric framer mechanism.

ü Film gate cleaned as well as film track (although this is part of normal maintenance on ANY projector)

ü Take-Up reel clutch tension adjusted to not allow film to 'spill' during PB, but to allow Re-Wind, you'll sometimes want to have your left hand ready as a 'reel brake' if you stop rewinding 'mid-stream' (depending on the size of reel and the amount of film on each reel).

ü Main transport, 'Transmission' critical adjustments made (many issues with the transport of a GAF 8mm projector can be traced to an 'out of adjustment' transmission, and 'minute' amounts make the difference in a projector running errantly, or running correctly).

ü Cleaned internal 'angled' mirror

ü Repositioned 'spindle drive' more directly over each tire for more positive transport function

ü Filed away some of the fan ducting to allow for better clearance of the blade on the 'deformed after 40 years' fan shroud

ü Following mechanical work, entire unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out.

ü New ELE projector lamp installed

ü Then checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and extensively tested with both Super 8 and Regular 8mm film.

Freshly refurbished / fully serviced, GAF 2688Z, Dual 8mm Film / movie / cine projector. Following about 9.5 hours of tech time, it's now Perfectly smooth and very quiet running. Cosmetically it's looks good. Has some wear to the 'silk screened' letters around some of the controls, and a few scuffs to the front lid / cover. Also one of the barbs that store the take-up reel inside the cover is missing.
Features Auto-Loading of film, is easy to use and that works well. Front spindle will accept Regular or Super-8 reels.

WARDS 811 Features:

&
- VERY USEFUL, Laterally, Leveling foot

- Built-In film Trimmer
- 'Room Light' AC outlet (turns on any accessory lamp when projector is 'off')
-
Retractable AC cord, that sometimes works (think "sometimes", as in how well 'retractable window shades' work. Not very well towards the end usually.

Film in photos not included.

ü
We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals of this projector.

ü It was disassembled internally for restoration including all the drive for cleaning and re-lubing prior to disassembly.

ü Both hub mechanisms checked for proper function. All 'idler pulleys and wheels' removed, cleaned and re-lubed.

ü Rewind hub tire reconditioned.

ü 'Shuttle' mechanism and associated cam cleaned and re-lubed, as well as the eccentric framer mechanism.

ü Film gate cleaned as well as film track.

Here's an email request we received recently that parallels what we actually hear often;

"Hello, We are looking for a refurbished dual 8 projector. We notice that you have none in stock but thought if we contacted you we could get on a waiting list of some sort. We have tried so many ebay products that swear they work only to have to send it back. My father is looking to watch hours of super 8 and regular 8 movies. He is becoming frustrated and doesn't want to lose the movies of his children etc.
Please keep us in mind if you have/get any in stock. Thank you, Christine F."
