Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. They were extensively tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings.....

 ....cabinets in nice shape with a few minor 'battle scars' (see photos above). Nothing too distracting. Also with the exception of some minor staining to the grill cloth, the grills, grill frames, and frame attachments are all in good condition with 2-missing pins. Grills still stay attached fine.
 Again we have completely gone through these speakers, cleaning, and testing all.....

 Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. One of the first things to address was the lack of internal batting material, which generally causes cabinet ring and excessive resonance. Our tech added poly-spun batting to an appropriate level, which in once everything else was done, really tightens up the low end and GREATLY improves definition. He then replaced the woofer surround with correct and fresh foam suspensions. All drivers were re-installed with the addition of gasketing material to further seal and eliminate any ‘flange to baffle’ rattles and buzzes. Attenuators 'PAINSTAKINGLY' removed and cleaned for ‘static free’ operation. Gasketing added to the attenuator plates prior to re-installation as well. All drivers were then tested with AF generator sweep, PN 20-20k and our standard, 'abusive' test recordings.

Following the above technical work, we auditioned this pair extensively, not because we had to, but because it was fun. Following, of course our normal barrage of 'pink noise' and an AF sweep from 3k down to 20Hz, our demo / testing CD's / cuts ran the gamut from....

HUGE in both size and SONICS! If you want to GET REALLY LOUD, then these Infinity SM-152's are the ticket. This was their TOPL for that series. 3-Way, Bass Reflex cabinet design. If you want a speaker to GET LOUD and not worry about, these are about as beefy as you're going to get without going to a pro-audio, S/R speaker and still get Hi-Fi detail. Plenty of top end that can be filtered / tailored to your tastes with built-in attenuator or external EQ / tone control. Also DEEP low-end due to rear porting, that still stays incredibly tight (shakes the concrete floor in our demo room). They are able to handle "power" better MUCH than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler power amp. I sold 'Pro-Audio' for years, and these would 'hold a candle' to many of those speaker models for power handling characteristics, but with 'Hi-Fi' sound quality / detail. Among the top performers of the many speakers we have auditioned over the years. 
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these.  Both woofer surrounds replaced with new foam for trouble-free service  (YES, 'properly', using voice coil shim method!!!). Woofer dust caps replaced with vented cloth domes instead of the fragile 'foam' versions. We also added additional, Poly-spun batting to tighten up any 'hollowness' from the cabinet. All drivers were re-installed with the addition of gasketing material to further seal and eliminate any ‘flange to baffle’ rattles and buzzes. Attenuators removed and cleaned for ‘static free’ operation. Gasketing also added to the attenuator plates prior to re-installation as well. Following that work, we completely tested them with W/N 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-5,000 Hz, feeding them with the output from our Hafler 500 Pro Power Amp, looking for any vibrations or other anomalies (and there were originally a few that we addressed, as there typically are on speakers). Then further auditioned with a myriad of our difficult to reproduce 'test' CD's.

These are impressively large speakers. Very nice looking wood grain, vinyl wrap cabinets. Only cosmetic issues are that there is an old a repair to the back, edge of one cabinet that had been done prior to arrive to us. There's a few scuffs on the top of primarily one cabinet, and the grill cloth on each has a hole in the knit (see photos above). The grill frames are perfect with not breaks, or missing locate pins. They're all intact. Again woofer just had fresh, new foam surround installed for trouble-free service.
Speakers look and sound GREAT! Huge, accurate and loud sound, but also very efficient at lower powers due to their 102dB rating! I hope you don't have any neighbors within a couple miles as these are capable of MASSIVE BASS!!! (actually the most bass response of any speaker I've come across in over 4 decades that wasn't a 'subwoofer'). If you're looking for a great performing speaker all the way from 'low' (again, 102dB @ 1 Watt) to very high volume applications with that big 'Wall-O-Sound', or want to throw parties every weekend you will not be disappointed with these speakers. I've actually had these speakers held back here at the shop for me to listen to for a few years. I can attest that they are pretty much not only one of the loudest speakers we've ever had, but also due to their accuracy, and balance / detail, one of the most fun to listen to, for any type of music we've thrown at them. I run them typically with a big Hafler power amp, but with their "102dB" rating, you could likely get away with something as low as 50-60 Watts and be happy (although as typical, "the more the better"). Each measures 40" tall x 17.75" wide x 12.5" deep and weighs 65 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 30 day limited speaker warranty ( & excluding problems due to under / over powering)
