Parting out a
clean Pioneer RT-909 Reel-Reel Deck. Everything runs and
looks great! This one has an
issue in that when it was powered up, the Fast Rewind motor always
turned. Heads in like new condition. Hubs run perfectly true!
All motors run fine, fast, smooth and quiet. All transport functions
work well. Internal boards will need trim pots adjusted when
installed in new deck. Cosmetics like new! We're parting it out as
we've had so many requests for parts.
Some RT-909 parts may also fit RT-901's.
Bonnet, Black Case
bonnet RNA-424
(Top / Sides sheet metal).
Has been used here at the shop to 'test' finishes on
(Hammer-Tone on one side and Satin on the other. Top is original
finish, but 'checked'), so will need to be over-sprayed to look
consistent - $125.

mounting screws, handles etc. as those are sold

Clean, but has some (4-5) 'nicks / gouges' along the edges that are
4-5mm in size (almost like someone took a 'round file' and dug into
the edge with it). Has a 'line' along the left edge between the rack
holes. There's a 'trail' of small tics below the 'Output' pot
hole. The blue windows in good shape with very little wear
(wouldn't show up in camera and only see tiny striations with
the light glancing just so). Overall finish in good shape. No
'Rack Rash'. Silk screening in good
condition with only minor wear. - $155.

(Without these, the Pioneer RT-909 Reel to
Reel Capstan flywheels will 'scrape / drag' on the motor mount
thrust plate. Metal ball bearings transfer too much mechanical noise
for a tape deck of this caliber unless you use a Teflon bearing
surface on the 'thrust plate'. Additionally, there's a circuit
'shorting' risk if they fall down into the circuit board either by
accident during labor or due to excess travel / space between the
flywheel axels and the plate.)

(Many R2R's
are offered for sale by individuals around the world, usually on
"on-line" auctions.
Most
of the R2R's shipped by individuals are not packed adequately and
thus sustain damage or are completely destroyed. We even see this
when packed by some of the "pros" at the shipping stores. Just
because they work there, doesn't mean they are versed in packing
fragile, high mass electronics (I get calls all the time for this
part because the unit was VERY INAPPROPRIATELY packed by one of the
WELL KNOWN shipper stores). Reel spindles are the most common part
to get damaged or destroyed from amateur / inadequate packaging (and
no, double boxing is not the solution!!!. Thus we get many times
more request for this part than there are ever parts available. If
you see these available and you need them, call quickly as these are
some of the first parts to sell due when a machine comes in for
salvage.)
