VINTAGE AND ORIGINAL
SHURE MICROPHONE
SHURE DY-11 (55 TYPE)
"BIG ELVIS" MIC
BLUE & RED SCREEN
Circa '39-early 40's

for sale
Classic Shure 'DY-11' 'Fat Elvis' mic. This is the style started it all and is still the microphone imaged when people think of Rock-n-Roll! Hard to find an old performance photo without this mic in it. These were introduced in 1939 and made until 1946. As this mic is a Chicago "Red" version it is one of the first generation.
While it looks decent at a distance, it's not going to 'win any beauty contests' up close. Has typical 'pitting' (mostly to the top). Original Blue and Rouge silk has a couple tears in the back half. Also, has a couple of breaks to the 'grill casting' in the rear half. The stand attachment threads are 'wallowed' out, so it wont' 'thread tight' onto a stand. Also, there's one of the four front grill attachment screws broken off inside the rear half. The screw has been changed on the side that holds the connector. We've tried to show all of this in the photo collage above.
As far as function,
the Original element utilizes an Aluminum diaphragm, that has had some minor 'dents' in the past (although they're 'pulled out' now). It is fairly 'thin' sounding (think CB or Telephone). Original "Chicago" ID badge intact and in good condition. We have completely gone through it cleaning inside and out,  rebuffing housing (still has normal wear and pitting to finish), re-silking with red silk (original reddish-brown no longer available) and testing for performance. This is the original "Big" version 55 measuring 3 3/16" wide, as opposed to the smaller version that came out later. Built-in impedance selector switch for L-M-H.
This mic would be best purposed as a 'stage / photo prop' or for display. If you 'really' wanted to use it, it would be best to install a different element in to actually use on stage and expect utilitarian performance. (Uses our Shure 3-pin Amphenol to XLR or 1/4 " cable sold separately above.)

VINTAGE GAME SHOW STYLE MICROPHONE
MADE IN JAPAN

VINTAGE RCA MICROPHONE
MODEL RCA 88-A 88A
ORIGINAL
Circa 1944
MADE IN USA

Beat up, Old and UGLY, UGLY, UGLY microphone! Did I mention how Ugly this mic is. Ugly, it may be, but it does work with LOT'S OF OUTPUT. Very strong. Sounds great with harp, but hard to hold. The photos pretty much tell most of the story. Would make a good prop / display mic with some clean-up and re-finish or a harp mic with a LOT OF CHARACTER.
If your 'Tweed' is beat up, then this mic will go well.
1/2 pipe thread mounting for "old skoool" mic stands. We thought this mic was sold long ago, but it just surfaced in the warehouse, and was re-tested.
The cable is ~8" on length, so we can install either a Male XLR or a female 1/4" jack.
Measures 4.5" in length x 2" in diameter.

Just FYI and again, why we have to modify most of the "3-Pin" connectors for EV mics). (As many of the connectors for 'vintage mics' are 'vintage / NOS' as well, they have likely been around for 30-60 years, and may show some surface corrosion / tarnish / scuffing, but this will only be cosmetic and will not affect performance. Cables / wire are new / fresh stock as well as the 280 & XLR plugs.
ALSO, be aware that many of the connectors out there on the web are MISSING their 'strain relief' clips. These are 'internal' parts that many sellers are not aware of, nor are aware that may be missing. Without internal strain relief for the cable, you will need to 'fabricate' adequate internal clamping / strain relief, or you'll be re-doing the wire / solder connections quite often. About half the connectors I receive are missing their original strain relief clips. Fortunately we have a decent 'supply' of them to add to our connectors prior to building the cables)

These are super-high quality cable with a great 1 year warranty from manufacturer. They are well insulated and shielded, with an Amphenol type 4-pin screw-on connector on one end, and an all metal, male XLR connector on the other for input to standard, modern mixers with XLR inputs. To use with a guitar amp input, simply use an XLR-1/4" adaptor!
They will fit DuKane 7A160, EV / Electrovoice 77A, EV-
623 / Exectutone EXL, EV 630, 636, 644, 664, 674, 676, EV-726, 767, Rauland 1248, Stromberg-Carlson MD37CS and most other EV utilizing a 4-pin, screw on Amphenol type.

These will also fit, with a slight modification to the plug, some early / original issue Shure mics such as the Shure 545, 545S, 565 / 565S / PE54-II Unidyne-III Dynamic, Uni-Sphere / 'Pistol Grip' microphones (not for modern mics utilizing XLR connectors).
(note: Shure microphones with '4-pins' always have 'Pin-1' / ground 'in-line', or 'adjacent' to the key slot, where EV has "Pin-1" skewed a few degrees from it. Just FYI and again, why we have to modify most of the "4-Pin" connectors for Shure mics).

> Have a Shure 545, 545S, 565 / 565S / PE54-II Unidyne-III Dynamic, Uni-Sphere / 'Pistol Grip' and want one WITHOUT the "modification"? As of 3/2/2020, we have a 'handful' of the 'proper' connectors for an additional $25. Just give us an email or phone call for further info or to order. <

REAL QUALITY
6" (inch)
   FEMALE XLR  -  1/4" MALE
LOW IMPEDANCE to HIGH Z
MIC ADAPTOR / TRANSFORMER / PIGTAIL

Finally we found an XLR-1/4" transformer / adaptor that doesn't "gut" itself after you use it a half dozen times. I can't tell you how many times I've used cheap versions of these in the past at gigs, that totally come apart when you un-plug them. This one is built to last and stay together.
This version is also the "pig-tail" one that doesn't turn your microphone cable plug into an '8" lever' like the "solid" versions do. With the cheap way mixing boards / consoles, portable PA systems and guitar amps are made these days, you need all the help you can get. Any tension on the solid, "one-piece" versions will bend your input jacks and stress the 'direct to circuit board' solder connections. This version puts no more tension on your input jacks than a normal cable does.
Internal, built-in transformer converts Low Z (600 ohms) to Hi Z (50,000 ohms) to allow all your mic's sound into your pre-amp / amp. It's essentially a Direct-Box in a cable. 1 year warranty against workmanship defects
*.

Turner 22X, Turner U9S (no mod required), Stromberg-Carlson MD22A, and others utilizing a 3-pin, screw on Amphenol type (not for modern mics utilizing XLR connectors).

This connector was also used on the 'Stancil Hoffman' "MiniTape / Spy Suitcase" Reel to Reel player / Recorder for signal in and out to the Record / Play head.
(We do not have any technical info at this time, but would assume, based on other mfg's use of 'Pin-1' that it would be 'Ground' and that the other two pins would be 'In & Out', but we have no info as to which. Those pins likely go directly to the 'Tape Head' as it does not appear that the unit has a 'Record / Playback Amplifier' built in, but that's all speculation at this point).

This connector was also used on the 'Stancil Hoffman' "MiniTape / Spy Suitcase" Reel to Reel, player / Recorder for power from the rechargeable battery pack, Stancil Hoffman BC-9C
(w/ 'Pin-1' most likely being ground, and 'Pin-4' likely positive, but that's 'educated speculation' based on every other mfg's 'Pin-1' utilization. Pins 2 & 3 do not appear to be utilized on the power port.)

About half the connectors I receive are missing their original strain relief clips. Fortunately we have a decent 'supply' of them to add to our connectors prior to building the cables)

GOLD ANODIZED / PLATED
MALE 91-MC4M
/ 91MC4M

"RARE AS HENS' TEETH"
ORIGINAL / NEW OLD STOCK
AMPHENOL
4-PIN MICROPHONE CONNECTOR
CABLE MOUNT MICROPHONE CONNECTORS
MADE IN THE USA!

VINTAGE STYLE MICROPHONE MIC CONNECTORS FOR SALE
New old stock Amphenol 4-pin 91-MC4M Microphone cable connectors.
They will fit
DuKane 7A160, some some older / early / original issue EV models 77A, 623 / Exectutone EXL, 636, 644, 664, 674, 676, 726, 767 and others, Rauland 1248, Stromberg-Carlson MD37CS microphones and others utilizing a 4-pin, screw on Amphenol type connector.

Includes strain relief inside (not visible in photos). While this does have some cosmetic wear, as it's about 60 years old, it is NOS.

$89.99
ONLY 1 FOR SALE

(2 in stock, but I'm keeping one for my personal, Gold EV-664)
